Holiday DIY Present

Posted on

Recently I had a Christmas Party with all my girlfriends. I wanted to give them a little present but I didn't want to break my wallet. These little gems cost me about $1.25 per glass.

Here is what you will need:
Glasses: $1.00 each
Glass Markers: < $5.00

I put my hand inside it like this to write a cute phrase.
I chose: "May you enjoy many happy hours"
I thought it was appropriate for me and my boozing friends.

Then, simply start to make dots in a pattern until you've gone all the way around the cup.
I made my dots about the size of a dime.

 Boom. Easy, inexpensive holiday present.

Hope you had a great Chirstmas!

Do you go for Mildly Festive?

or Crazy Festive??
I personally love a simple icicle light, but I grew up with the large oversized bulbs.
we don't go too crazy- just a simple strand on the eaves of the roof.
Have a Happy Wednesday!

For those who have not heard of Katherine Switzer:
The year was 1967, she had entered the Boston Marathon, five years before it became official that her gender was allowed to partake.
After realizing that a woman was running, race organizer Jock Semple went after Switzer shouting, “Get the hell out of my race and give me those numbers” attempting to remove her. However, Switzer’s boyfriend Tom Miller sent him flying and with the aide of other male runners, provided her with a protective shield during the entire marathon.
Kathrine later went on to win the 1974 NYC marathon with a time of 3:07:29 and was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 2011.
This woman is Seriously Awesome.

DIY Chalkboard

Items needed:
Thrifted Frame $20-45
Particle Board $5.99 + $0.25 for cuts
chalkboard paint $5.39
Paint brush
You can get paint brushes from any craft store. This one came in a set I use for painting acrylic.
I first measured the inside of the frame. be sure to measure from the back of the frame, not the front so that your Particle board is cut to fit where the glass would go.
I got mine at the Do-it Center. They will cut it to size for you was well.
I painted side to side strokes to make sure I didn't have any random brush strokes
once the paint dried.

Like this...
I had to paint a couple of coats to get the Look I wanted.

Using a chalkboard artist I saw as inspiration, I drafted it out the sign by drawing it on a small 8x11 piece of paper then drew it again "roughly" on my chalkboard.
Then using a wet paper towel and a little bit of patience, this is how it turned out.

A little imperfections here and there, but I love the way it turned out!

I plan on using and changing this chalkboard year round! I think it's a fun way to get creative with out breaking the bank!
Happy Tuesday!

Well, December snuck up on me. I always feel like December is so far away, and then all of a sudden, it's Christmas!
I did start shopping early, and planning early so I feel a little ahead of the game!
I apologize for my lack of posts over Thanksgiving! I had unexpectedly had Family in town and was soaking up every minute of it...
I promise I will be more up to date on my posts this month!
I have a couple of DIY projects this month that make easy gifts, or great Decor for the holidays coming this week!

Hope you have a wonderful Monday!

I have seriously been craving a clutch lately- says the oversized bag lady.
Weird. I know.
I'm pretty sure I would give my left arm for No.6. Marc Jacobs has my Number.

I have been so drawn to the Art of Chalkboard writing and signage by Dana Tanamachi.
Her signs totally inspire me to do my own chalkboard art!
