A life time of goals

My apologies for the long post in advance!

Recently, my best friend was cleaning out her guest room closet. She found things like a Paula Abdul, Vanilla Ice and Madonna cassette tapes and a fourth grade year book in which I told her "have fun, stay young and drink Pepsi." I was super cool in fourth grade, and apparently a spokesperson for Pepsi.

She also found handwritten notes from me, describing the angst of my 6th grade world crumbling to pieces. I was also a little bit dramatic.

My favorite thing she found was her list of 100 life goals. Some made me smile, some made me laugh (what happened to #22??), and some make me proud to call her my best friend.
I am actually happy to announce that she actually completed most of them, even though she only wrote down to #34.

It made me think, what did I want to be when I was little? What goals did I want to accomplish? Without a list of goals to keep track, it kind of scares me that I don’t remember what I wanted to be...
With my life about to start another chapter-growing in my career and the possibility of starting a family-I can't help but wonder what my 39 year old self would think of my 29 year old self's goals and accomplishments. What would be on my list of 100 goals now vs. then?

Since I’m a sucker for mason jars, and would probably lose the actual list if had one, I thought that making a memory jar would be so much more me. I want to make a time capsule of sorts, with pictures, anniversary cards, trinkets, and hand written notes from my 20 something self, to my 30 something self. I think it would be so amusing to see the advice, stresses and fears that I have now compressed to a tiny jar, and then one day- open them and be able to look back and see how silly they were and smile.

If you are still reading this... Thank you!
Happy Thursday!

I'm not going to lie, it's a little addicting. I do have to say it's a bit surreal getting to look in on people we follow through social media via instagram, twitter, facebook, and blogs. I mean pictures are one thing- but actually hearing people's voices and seeing their kids move- I almost feel like I'm getting to see a world that I'm not suppose to.

What are your thoughts?

On the up side, DIY six second videos are pretty awesome like this one.

and then there are the completely funny ones like this one.

With that being said, feel free to add me!
I won't post much until I get over the fear of sharing my life through video clips!

I am always on the look for a good monogram. With my new last name starting with a K, it's hard to find a pretty one that doesn't look cheesy. These ladies have made not only one neckalce that I want, but at least five that I am swooning over.
Thanks to Ashley over at Rapparound, I now have ten new things on my birthday wishlist!

Happy Tuesday!

Criss-Cross-Applesauce

Posted on

Since I satrted eating Paleo, I have always been on the lookout for more healthy Breakfast options. One can only have so many eggs. I recently re-kindled my love for apple sauce, and decided to eat it for Breakfast- warm. Especially on a day like today, it's almost as good as eating apple pie in the morning...almost. It inspired me to try making my own homemade applesauce.

side note: best food photography ever.

Homemade Skinny Applesauce

Ingredients
  • 6 Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
  • 6 sweet apples, peeled and cored (good choices are gala, honey crisp, pink lady, or red delicious)
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch of nutmeg
Directions

Add all the above ingredients to the slow cooker, cover and cook on low 6-8 hours. Serve warm or chilled. We used a 5 quart slow cooker for this recipe but 4 or 6 quart will work.

once you've made your apple sauce, you have to store it, and why not have cute lables to put on your apple sauce jars? Love & Olive Oil, an awesome foodie website has the labels above available to print here. they also have nother applesauce recipe if you're more of a sugar gal.

You can print out these labels on full sheet sticker paper and add them to your jars.

clockwise from top left : 1 2 3 4 5 6

Lately I've been more of a white, cream and tan girl. However- black will always be my one true love. and since I have a new found love for gold, I can't get this combo out of my head. I'm talking black bathrooms with gold fixtures, black accessories with gold studs, black stationary, black walls with gold pendants...the list could go one forever. I mean how can you not feel sexy holding that champagne glass?!

Gorgeous.

my favorite painting of all time.

Happy Tuesday!
